Can African Grey Parrots Eat Strawberries? 🍓 Just Need Some Advice!

Hey everyone once again!

I have a quick question that’s been bugging me all morning — can African Grey parrots eat strawberries?

So, I was eating breakfast earlier, and my Congo Grey, Luna, snatched a piece of strawberry right off my plate before I could stop her 😅. She looked so happy munching on it that I didn’t want to take it away, but then I started wondering if it’s actually safe for her.

I’ve seen mixed answers online, some say strawberries are perfectly fine and even healthy in moderation, while others warn about the sugar and pesticide residue. I do wash all my fruits really well, but now I’m second-guessing myself.

Has anyone here fed their African Grey strawberries before? Did your birds like them? And are there any side effects or things I should watch out for (like upset stomach or red droppings)?

I’m trying to add more variety to Luna’s diet, and she seems to love fruits like apples and papaya, but I’ve never tried berries before. So before I make it a regular thing, I thought I’d ask the experts here.

What do you all think — are strawberries safe for African Greys, or should I stick to other fruits instead? 🍓🦜

Thanks in advance for your advice!
Pedro
